Pupil Premium

"Your results show that you are amongst the 250 top performing schools in the country in terms of the progress your disadvantaged pupils make between Key Stage 1 and the end of Key Stage 2, and their attainment at the end of the Key Stage. Your school is exceptionally effective in educating your disadvantaged pupils."

The school is allocated additional funding for those in receipt of free school meals which is referred to as Pupil Premium.

The Governors allocate the money to supporting children's academic and social development; specifically those with language or social and emotional barriers to learning.

Attainment of disadvantaged pupils is outstanding in reading and writing and very good in maths.

The % of disadvantaged pupils reaching age related expectations at Highfield exceeds the % of all pupils nationally reaching age related expectations in reading, writing and maths and in reading, writing, maths combined.

The average standardised score of disadvantaged pupils at Highfield exceeds the average standardised score of all pupils nationally in reading and GAPS. 

The progress of disadvantaged pupils from their various starting points is outstanding in reading, writing and maths.

 

The progress made by disadvantaged pupils exceeds that of all pupils nationally, all pupils at Highfield and other pupils at Highfield in reading and GAPS and all pupils nationally in reading, writing, maths combined.

The 2017 results and progress for disadvantaged pupils in Reading, Writing and Maths demonstrate that they are well above national floor standards for all children nationally.

This demonstrates that the grant is being effectively spent to maximise the amount of progress being made (see PPG Strategy & Review for 2016/17 and PPG Strategy 2017-18)

The % of disadvantaged pupils reaching the higher level in reading, writing and maths and reading, writing and maths combined exceeds the% of non disadvantaged reaching this level at Highfield.

 

The average standardised score of disadvantaged pupils at Highfield exceeds the average standardised score of all pupils nationally in reading and maths.

Disadvantaged pupils vs school and national others 2015

 

School strategies to raise the attainment for disadvantaged pupils and close the gap against other pupils nationally have been highly effective.   

 

Attainment

 

·         In the last 3 years attainment of disadvantaged pupils at Highfield has risen by +1.8 APS, whereas nationally it has risen for this group by only 0.7 APS, so that attainment of our disadvantaged pupils is now well above that of the same group nationally. (+2.7)

·         The attainment gap between school disadvantaged pupils and other pupils nationally is +0.4 compared to the -2.3 APS gap nationally.

·         The % of disadvantaged children achieving Level 4 exceeds the figure for national others in maths and reading

·         The % of disadvantaged pupils achieving 4b+ in reading is sig + and exceeds the figure for national others.

 

Progress

 

·         Progress made by all our pupils is outstanding and is significantly above that made by pupils nationally.

·         VA for disadvantaged is sig + for all subjects combined and reading, writing and mathematics individually.

·         The % of disadvantaged pupils in Ks2 making BTE progress in reading, writing and maths greatly exceeds the national figure for other pupils

·         The % of disadvantaged pupils in Ks2 making expected progress exceeds the figure for national others in reading, writing and maths.
